Carbon is added as a filler to PTFE and improve the electrical conductivity. These rods find applications in industries such as electronics, where static dissipation or electrical conductivity is required along with PTFE's other desirable properties.

Carbon filled PTFE materials have higher thermal conductivity and a lower coefficient of friction than their glass fiber counterparts. It has a long wear life and excellent extrusion resistance. Carbon filled PTFE also offers good thermal conductivity and low permeability, making it a good choice for anti-static applications.

Typical fields of application for PTFE carbon filled rods include aerospace industries, electrical and electronic industries and automotive industries.
